Do you excersize/workout?

It's that time of year again when advertisers are trying to peddle their excersize equipment. Over the years I've aquired a stair master, a ski machine, and ab helper, a stationary bike (plus I have a 10 speed for outdoors), weight bench with weights, weight machine... I've belonged to this gym and that gym (Gold's gym, Gym World...), this program and that program, from aerobasize, to water aerobics...

For right now, because of all the snow piled up on the streets in my town, I can't get outside to do much and I don't belong to any gym right now, so I've resorted to just riding my stationary bike. I ride it 3-4 days a week for an hour each time. I also do a little strength training with weights.

What turns you on in the excersize world? Or what turns you off? How many days a week to you excersize, work out ... and how many hours a day? Do you get your workouts from playing sports or are you a workout fanatic?

Or do you just let your fingers do the walking on your keyboard?

As for as I am concerned, I am martial artist (don't get frigtened). Have to wake-up early in the morning about 4am. Start exercises and practice at about 4:30am to 7:30 (for solid three hours). Then Prepare for office.

I have martial art related stuff like sand bags, dummies, etc etc

After coming back at 6:30pm, Again exercise from 8pm to 9pm (but this is occational practice). Then at 10:00pm I go to bed.

I go to the gym 5 days a week (I'm a college student and the free gym is only open Mon-Fri). I do about an hour of cardio type workout . A half hour on the eliptical machine (I have a leg problem and need low impact workout) and a half hour on the rowing machine. I lift weights three days a week This can take up to two hours depending on how packed the gym is. I also do pushups and situps every morning when I wake up.

Tuesday through Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings I go to a local gym that is located by a lake park that has a walking/running path around the lake. I work-out with weights for about an hour or so in the gym, then jog around the lake (2.8 miles).

I also practice Aikido, though work now keeps me from going 6 days a week, which used to be the main focus of my life for 10 years. So, I attend classes and seminars when I can.

I have a bike, and I love to take a ride or go for a good walk on sunny weekends.

I love exercise, because it keeps the body and mind active and healthy.

I am not really jazzed about the rush, rush, rush thing I see many people doing to get the work-out portion of their day done. I would rather just do whatever exercises I can do within the time I have got each day.

Well i have a ski machine and a bench at the appartment right now and some small weights. As of January the 1st of this year everyday i dedicate 2 hours to work out,cause i need it. I feel losing my healht and i aint gonna let it happen. So i'll exercise and i plan in time, after i acquire some basic stamina and body muscle to start swimming and scuba diving in the summer... Oh almost forgot.I also type alot to exercise fingers

Absolutely, Corky O!. I enoy excersizing as much for my mental health as my physical health. It gets those enzymes moving, especially after sitting at the computer for any lengthy amount of time.

Ok, sorry. I tried to post real quick while I was running out the door. Most of my life was spent in hard traing for a few different Maritial Arts, the most rigorous of which was the hard style of Shotokan Karate (as opposed to the soft style of JuJitsu). Lots of focused energy involved there. Now, I am kind of like Corky in that I will exercise to the extent that I enjoy it and not because I have to. When I am on a good routine, though, I feel %120. When I am not I feel about 60%.

Diet is just as important. You want a six pack? Cut out High Fructose Corn syrup (that means pop, any beverage sold at a gas station almost), anything white(bread, pasta)you should substitute with whole wheat, and anything deep fried (most fast foods). Eat protein to build muscle(fish, meat, beans), veggies and fruit, dairy (weight loss properties) and everything else in moderation. You'll feel better almost immediately. And eat often to keep your metabolism always working. Six moderate meals a day or 3 meals and 3 snacks. Stay away from binge eating and cut the alcohol down to only one a day. You'll look like Usher in no time. Probably should mention chips, too. If you eat them, you'll have chip hips.

Yeah, diet, SD! Lately I've even gone so far as to shop at a couple of organic grocery stores, Whole Foods and Wild Oats. I, personally detest the thought of eating any kind of meat with added hormones and antibiotics. Also I stay away from grain fed amimals, and request only meats from grass fed animals. It's amazing the difference in taste of unprocessed foods and processed foods. And if there has to be sweets around the house? I make my family cookies (like oatmeal) with organic oats, unprocessed sugar and salt, unbleached flour, organic spices and only butter! Never margerine! And if I use any kind of oil it's olive oil, nothing hydrogenated.

It's amazing the crap that is sold at average supermarkets. The only drawback are the prices, and with 3 grown men in my family (my sons are 20 and 21) I have to do some selective shopping each week between the "good" stores and the "bad."

Diet is all important. I use the 3 meal/3 snack schedule (with whole grains, and as much fresh foods as possible), and I do drink a lot of water (about 1 Gallon/Day) to lubricate the muscles.

There truly is a difference when one eats, sleeps, and exercises properly. It sounds like common sense, but becomes a "needed discipline" these days with computers, cell phones, stores at every corner in any sizeable city or suburb.

The hardest part is setting up and maintaining a routine. Once you make it a habit, your pretty well set.

and after it becomes a habit, going back is not all that inviting. After I stopped drinking soft drinks for about six weeks, I had one (occasional treats are good, too. It keeps you from rebelling) and could not believe how sweet it was. It was like a fructose syrup drip. I couldn't even drink it.

I have a full gym in my business. I've been weight training for quite a number of years. I can tell you that whatever you choose to do for exercise remember these basics.

Exercise is just the stimulus.
A quality diet is important.
Rest is essential.

Without them it's hard to make anything happen.
