For some reason, my icons will not save in the size I am trying to save them in. I am trying to save them in 128x128 XP size but they are saving at 32x32. I don't believe I'm doing anything differently than I have done before.

I open ID and choose convert image to icon. I open a png file and select the 128x128 XP format. Click Ok. Then try to save it, but it doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Up in the corner of my screenshot in parenthesis is 32x32, which is what the icons are saving at.

How can I change this?

Donna,

Can you export it to the file type you want in the size you want?

I use version 1.2.0, build 1066 and do not see a "convert image" option, just a "File > New > Icon from image file" which then opens a format dialog to set the sizes I want - so the "non-beta" version may be different than what you are using.

"convert image" option,

Hey Cork. When you open ID, 3rd item down on the welcome screen that you probably close when it comes up. Kinda looks like a splash screen.

Options are:

New Icon

Open Icon

Convert Image to Icon

Recolor Icons

Down at the bottom is a check box that says 'show this welcome screen at startup' - which it will do if you left it checked.

Bichur,

Forgot about the splash screen.

Okay, so I select "Convert to icon" > Add file format dialog pops up > select my sizes (first time only, then the formats are already in list) > use File > Save as > select "All Files" in "Save as type:" drop-down list in Save dialog > add ".png" to file name > 128 x 128 .png now exists as saved file.

One thing I noticed, is that the 32 x 32 is the only file format set when the "Add file format" dialog pops-up the first time.....

What else am I missing to reproduce the issue?

on Dec 09, 2005

Note - if I use the default ".ico" in "Save as type:" list, the end result is a 128 x 128 icon (".ico") file......

Sorry, can't seem to reproduce in version 1.2.0.....

now try this:

open an icon and export icon as image file. it used to just automatically create a 128x128 png
on Dec 09, 2005

Nothing if I use the "File > Export icon as image file", if I use the "Right-click icon > Export as image" command - I get a "Save as" dialog.

Perhaps if Donna removes the "32 x 32 Windows XP" from the left hand list, and then reinserts it below the "48 x 48 Windows XP" listing, it would correct the issue.....

Note #2 - I also show a 32 x 32 icon in the "Save as" dialog (matching the screenshot) when saving new icon, but my ".ico" still saves at full size of 128 x 128....

Good luck.....

if I use the "Right-click icon > Export as image" command - I get a "Save as" dialog.

i get that, but nothing show up anywhere
if i right click the image and choose export selected > as pngs, then it works

but it still hasn't helped Donna.

i just followed your instructions above Donna, converted image to icon, choose a 128x128, highlighted it, then file > save as & it saved it as a 128x128 ico

Thanks Paul, David. I still can't save the icons with the sizes I want. At this point I'm only uploading pngs in OD, but I do have an IP I'd like to consider finishing. I still think the key is up there in my screenshot. Where is says 32x32. Earlier in the day it read 16x16 and that's the size the icons were saving at. How or when it changed to 32x32 is beyond me, but it is still there for some reason. I don't remember it being there before.

I had a simple pattern that I followed to make the icons, but now, apparently, along with a few others, we are all having similar problems. To me, this means there must be a problem with the program. I really don't konw. Maybe this is a job for "the janitor."

I tried deleting the 32x32 format from that list, Paul but it wouldn't delete. I'll try it again. That particular format (32x32)is at the top of the list, before the 128x128XP format. I thought the same thing and tried to delete to reload it at a lower position but that didn't work. I'll keep trying!

Here's another screenshot before I save it. It says that 32x32 already exists. What does that mean? It's the only ize format that says that.

I deleted the 32x32 format but now it's saving in 16x16 format! Grrrr!
