Do you relish getting up every day to meet a new challenge at work? Come in contact with good people?

Or is work a drag? A pain in the...? A heartache? A twisted nightmare? Boring?

Today, my second day back teaching preschool after a wonderful summer vacation, I was kicked, spit at, dealt with a screaming ear piercing temper tantrum, a child who cried the entire time she was there, one who gagged as if to vomit because she was crying so hard, and two children who wet their pants. And yet, I wouldn't give up my job for any other on the face of the earth! I absolutely adore it! Because I know that after a couple more times back at school, these children will come to trust us (the teachers) and the environment we provide for them. And I'll spend the rest of the year as if I'm in the middle of a season long series of Art Linkletter's, "Children Say the Darndest Things."

How about you? Do you like going into work everyday?

Pretty much, yes. My job continually challenges me and I do the type of work I like (IT).

Ultimately....I'd rather be fishin...

I would probably get tired of fishin after 200-300 days in a row and would miss the people I work with, the new challenges, the "learning curve" and having the perception of my "value" to society. I sure wouldn't miss the phone, certain clients (the whiners) and the acid indigestion during tax season.

But ultimately.....I'd rather be fishin....

though work is sometimes a place to get away from the world.........

I hated summer to end, but now that I'm back in the swing of things so to speak, I realize I needed to get back to force me to start getting out of bed before noontime everyday!

I think anyone who enjoys their work is very lucky.

I would never spend my day doing something I didn't enjoy. I'd either move on or FIND the joy. Life is too short.

I love my job. Today is a good day!

Do you like going into work everyday?

It pays the bills, and I do not dread going to work - so I would say I like my job.

My favorite job was actually a volunteer job running a childrens Aikido (Japanese martial art) program, which I had to give up to take my current job - unfortunately volunteer jobs do not pay the bills.

Given the opportunity, I would go back 20 years and take college courses to aquire a teachers certification and teach children (actually seems to be my forte - according to all my peers). Probably in no small part due to my father, who taught public school for 25 years, and has moved on to lead tours in Europe for Rick Steves "Europe through the back door" - now there is a great job, IMO.

If I ever get rich in some unforeseen way, I will definitely find a way to teach as a volunteer again.

All things considered, I'd rather be with Lantec; but I'm a metals guy and oversee an acoustical company that utilizes a lot of various metals, so as far as work goes....

nah, I'd still rather be with Lantec. ,,, and TasT.

If you enjoy what you do, it doesn't seem like work! I repair and install residential heating and air conditioning. I enjoy fixing things, I get a great feeling of satisfaction when I've solved somone's problem and made their home more comfortable. I also get satisfaction knowing I've made their equipment as effecient as possible for the environments sake. Do I like going to work? Take a guess! (but time off aint bad either!

Most Definitely!..LoL..I guess thats why I do it 7 days a week!!..
Cant get rich at what I do, but it is satisfying, and outdoors and never in the same location for very long, you can look back in 20 years and (usually) can still see what you have done..

YuP!,,I do enjoy what I do...

I would have guessed that, Paul. You really do have a wonderful knack for explaining things (your tutorials!), and teaching isn't about how much you know, but how you can relate whatever it is that you do know to your students.

Yeah, I did, alot....once upon a time when I was a furniture removalist, until arthritis and brittle bones put an end to that a couple of years ago.

Being a removalist, to me, was a much better job than being stuck in a factory or office...I was always on the move and far too busy to be clock watching for knock-off time, so I never had the feeling of being tediously bored. It was always hard and heavy work, but always enjoyable for the appreciation shown for my toils, and yep, I sure miss it.
